Reflecting on food, strength and the value of feeling good

This Healthy Eating Week, we’re celebrating the small food choices that can make a big difference—especially when you’re living with or beyond a cancer diagnosis. At HCCN, we know that eating well isn’t about strict plans or perfection. It’s about finding food that helps you feel stronger, supported, and more like yourself.

While we don’t promote specific diets, we know that The Fast 800 team, founded by the late Dr Michael Mosley, continues to share some brilliant, practical recipes that many in our community might enjoy. They’re simple, protein-rich, and full of ideas to make everyday meals feel more energising.

🍌 One we love? These High Protein Banana Pancakes – quick to make, naturally sweet, and packed with over 30g of protein per serving. A great option for a gentle breakfast or post-exercise treat.

Why are we talking about protein? Well, getting enough protein can be especially helpful during and after cancer treatment. It supports muscle maintenance, helps manage fatigue, and can aid recovery—whether you’re walking more, joining a Get Active class, or just trying to keep up with daily life.

So whether it’s pancakes or porridge, eggs or beans, we encourage you to look for easy ways to fuel your body kindly this week. And remember, healthy eating isn’t a finish line, it’s a tool for feeling more like you.

💙 We’re always happy to chat about food, fatigue, or finding your rhythm again. You can reach us by email or send us a message on social media, we’d love to hear from you.
