Tour de 4 Triumph: A Journey of Friendship, Strength, and Support

Sep 30, 2025 | Latest News

On Sunday 7th September, two remarkable women, Tracey and Jackie, completed the Tour de 4 challenge, cycling an incredible 56 miles through the hills of Glasgow with over 1,000 metres of climbing, and plenty of rain along the way.

But this wasn’t just any bike ride. It was a ride rooted in friendship and the shared determination to show what’s possible, even in the face of cancer.

Tour de 4 was created in the wake of Sir Chris Hoy’s own stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Determined to reshape what living with cancer looks like, his vision was to create an inclusive cycling event that brings people together whether directly affected by cancer or riding in support of others. The goal? To challenge perceptions, inspire hope, and raise vital funds for cancer charities across the UK.

Starting and finishing at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, the event offers four routes to suit a wide range of riders from family-friendly laps to the formidable 56-mile red route designed for seasoned cyclists.

Tracey and Jackie chose the red route.

For Tracey, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for secondary cancer, it was a deeply personal challenge. Cycling has been her passion for years, despite the physical demands of treatment, she was determined to take part. Her friend Jackie trained alongside her, fundraising for HCCN and riding every mile in solidarity.

Together, they showed what true support looks like: standing shoulder to shoulder, pushing through the toughest moments, and crossing the finish line not just as riders, but as beacons of what friendship and community can achieve.

Their determination and teamwork have raised over £4,605 in support of HCCN, Both Tracey and Jackie chose to ride for HCCN, a cause close to their hearts. Tracey has received support from HCCN over the years, and together they wanted to give something back, helping ensure that others facing cancer can access the same kind of compassionate, person-centred support.

From steep climbs to stormy skies, Tracey and Jackie faced it all together. And in doing so, they’ve reminded us what’s truly possible when friendship, courage, and community ride side by side.
