10am Professor Rob Thomas – Latest developments in nutrition and exercise relating to cancer
10:45am Coffee/Tea
11am Jackie Bland – ‘How do we practise what is preached’? – how do we make sure that new lifestyle advice re cancer prevention and treatment is incorporated into daily life.
11:45am Breakout groups
- Judy Duddridge : yoga / breathwork / meditation practices
- David Bailey : update on new breast cancer AI trial – also the mechanics of a biopsy – histopathology.
- Jackie Bland : dietary tips TBC
- Irene Debiram-Beecham and Liz Chipchase from CRUK – get hands on with new cancer demos – including the use of the capsule cyto-sponge.
12:45pm Lunch and HCCN BIG Afternoon Tea
1:45pm Professor Rob Thomas : latest, in depth, technical findings in cancer relating to diet and exercise
2:30pm Amy Bates, Radiotherapy Team lead at Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre : Radiotherapy- how it works and how it can be used with other therapies
3:15pm Coffee/Tea
3:30pm Saif Ahmad from Addenbrookes : radiotherapy resistance and its use with different drug combinations.
4:15pm Closing remarks : Jan Davis/ Graham Heywood
NB the afternoon session is slightly more technical and aimed at our HCCN nurses, but EVERYONE is welcome to attend the whole day.
